GHIPSS TO ENSURE E-ZWICH POS ARE EFFECTIVELY UTILIZED

The Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS) has initiated a nationwide program to ensure that the E-zwich Point of Sales (POS) terminal so far deployed are been effectively utilized.

It comes after GhIPSS some weeks ago extended the e-zwich services to 69 new outlets in the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central and Eastern regions through an agreement with 3 IT companies.

The new initiative dubbed “Bringing e-zwich to your door steps” is also being used to deploy more terminals as well as provide additional education on the use and importance of the e-zwich biometric cards.

The program which is already underway in the Accra/Tema zone has been zoned into 8 areas.

A team of GhIPSS officials are visiting each of these areas to interact with shop owners who have the e-zwich, enquire from them their concerns to duly address them.

The visits are also being used to update the e-zwich operators on the services available on the terminals and also enroll new shop owners to have E-zwich services.

The team also visit banks in the catchments area for feed back as well as provide them with additional information for the successful implementation of the system.

The Accra-Tema visits are expected to be completed by March after which it will move to the Ashanti region and them the Western region and extended to the entire country in due course.
