UNILEVER GHANA TO REVIEW OPERATIONS PDF Print E-mail
Unilever Ghana Limited is now set to review its operations to focus on strengthening its core consumer goods business.

This is expected to lead to possible decisions on disposals and strategic partnerships  mainly in the company’s interests in Oil Palm plantations and oil processing activities.

It comes after shareholders of the company passed the resolution yesterday Tuesday, February 2nd at an Emergency General Meeting.

The review is aimed at attracting an investor whose core business is in Oil Palm cultivation and processing to bring technical expertise and other investments into the Plantations.

It is also expected to enable Unilever Ghana to establish a sustainable, value-creating base for its core consumer business.

Unilever Ghana began a rationalization program between 1997 and 1998 to concentrate on its core activities of manufacturing, marketing and distribution.

The result of this was the disposal of non core activities including its business interests in real estate, textiles, breweries and heavy equipment.

This has resulted in the company’s present interests of two broad categories of the consumer business namely Home and Personal Care (HPC) and Foods, and in Oil Palm Plantations.
