DORNOO ASSUMES OFFICE AS GCB BOSS

The Former Director of Treasury for Barclays Bank, Ghana officially assumed office as the new Managing Director of Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) effective March 4, 2010

His appointment came at the mid to latter parts of last year after been shortlisted with two other top bankers including Mr. Charles Asare, formerly of Ecobank Ghana and SSNIT.

He succeeds Lawrence Adu-Mantey who joined the Bank in 1972 and appointed Deputy Managing Director for Finance in 2003 and Managing Director in February 2005.

Mr. Dornoo takes over with a wealth of experience in Banking and Finance at both the local and International fronts.

There are therefore high expectations from both the board and shareholders to consolidate the bank’s position as the pre-eminent financial institution in Ghana.

With government holding majority stake in the bank, Mr. Dornoo’s challenge would be striking a balance between government’s control and the management of the institution as an independent corporate entity
