The current Group Chief Executive of Ecobank Group will step down at the end of

2012 after seven and a half years with the group. Mr Ekpe is credited for moving the group from its presence in 5 countries to 32 countries across Africa and thus making Ecobank the leading pan African banking group with over 1,100 branches and offices across these 32 African countries.

He will be replaced by Thierry Tanoh who is the current IFC Vice President in charge of Africa, Latin America and Western Europe. As part of the succession arrangements, Mr Tanoh will join Ecobank in July 2012 and will work alongside Arnold until the end of the year to ensure a smooth handover.

In a related development, Albert Essien, Group Executive Director responsible for Corporate Banking and Evelyne Tall Group Chief Operating Officer have been appointed Deputy Group Chief Executive Officers with effect from January 1  2012.
